Travel Guide Iquitos Amazon Jungle tour 5 days

Best time to visit

The Amazon rainforest can be visited year-round. The dry season (May to October) generally offers easier trail conditions, while the rainy season (November to April) provides higher river levels, allowing access to flooded forests and remote waterways. Both seasons offer excellent wildlife viewing opportunities.

Climate

The Amazon has a tropical climate with warm temperatures throughout the year, typically ranging between 22°C and 32°C (72°F–90°F). High humidity and occasional rain showers are common, so lightweight and quick-drying clothing is recommended.

Health recommendations

Consult your doctor regarding recommended vaccinations before traveling.
Bring personal medications and sufficient supplies for the duration of your trip.
Use insect repellent regularly.
Stay hydrated throughout your excursions.
Follow your guide’s instructions during all activities and wildlife encounters.
Money & Payments

The local currency is the Peruvian Sol (PEN). While some establishments in Iquitos accept credit cards, cash is recommended for personal purchases, souvenirs, and optional expenses. ATMs are available in Iquitos but not in remote rainforest areas.

Electricity & connectivity

Electricity is available at the lodge during designated hours. Mobile phone coverage and internet access may be limited or unavailable in certain areas of the rainforest, providing an excellent opportunity to disconnect and fully immerse yourself in nature.

Wildlife observation

The Amazon is home to an incredible variety of wildlife. While sightings cannot be guaranteed, visitors commonly encounter monkeys, sloths, river dolphins, caimans, tropical birds, butterflies, frogs, and countless other fascinating species.

Responsible travel

Help preserve the Amazon by respecting wildlife, avoiding littering, minimizing plastic waste, and following the guidance of local communities and your tour leaders. Responsible tourism contributes directly to the conservation of this extraordinary ecosystem.

We recommend arriving in Iquitos at least a few hours before the scheduled tour departure. Airport and hotel transfers are included according to the itinerary. Please provide your flight details in advance to ensure smooth coordination.
