Discover the incredible biodiversity of the Peruvian Amazon on this 4-Day Manu National Park Tour from Lima. Travel from the Andes to the heart of the rainforest, where you’ll explore lush cloud forests, navigate scenic jungle rivers, and experience one of the most biologically diverse protected areas on Earth. Guided by expert naturalists, you’ll encounter fascinating wildlife, vibrant tropical landscapes, and the rich ecosystems that make Manu a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Whether you’re a wildlife enthusiast, photographer, or adventure traveler, this tour offers an unforgettable opportunity to connect with nature while enjoying comfortable eco-lodge accommodations, delicious local cuisine, and expertly organized logistics from start to finish.
Your 4-Day Manu National Park Tour from Lima begins with a convenient pickup from your hotel or Lima Airport. From there, we will take your included domestic flight from Lima to Cusco, where our local representative will be waiting to greet you upon arrival and assist with your connection to the tour.
Once in Cusco, we depart by comfortable tourist transportation toward the Peruvian Amazon. Along the way, we travel through the stunning Andean highlands, passing traditional villages and dramatic mountain landscapes before arriving at the charming colonial town of Paucartambo, known for its rich cultural traditions and vibrant local folklore.
The journey continues with a visit to the Pre-Inca funerary towers of Ninamarca, an important archaeological site that reveals fascinating insights into ancient Andean civilizations and burial practices.
We then descend into the mystical Cloud Forest, a unique transition zone between the Andes and the Amazon. This lush ecosystem is rich in orchids, ferns, and diverse wildlife. During a guided walk, you will have your first opportunity to observe exotic species such as the colorful Andean Cock-of-the-rock, playful monkeys, and, with some luck, the elusive Spectacled Bear, South America’s only native bear.
By late afternoon, we arrive at Bambu Lodge, a comfortable eco-lodge surrounded by rainforest. After settling into your private room with ensuite facilities, you can relax and enjoy the peaceful sounds of the jungle as you prepare for the deeper Amazon experience ahead.
Day 1 Highlights
After enjoying an early breakfast at Bambu Lodge, we continue our journey deeper into the Amazon. We travel by bus to the Atalaya port, where our river expedition begins. From here, we board a motorized boat and navigate along the scenic Alto Madre de Dios River, a peaceful 45-minute ride surrounded by pristine rainforest and opportunities to observe wildlife along the riverbanks.
Upon arrival at Soga de Oro Lodge, you will settle into your comfortable private rooms equipped with mosquito nets, showers, toilets, and a dining area designed for a relaxing stay in the jungle. If you wish, you may also enjoy a refreshing swim in the river, fully immersing yourself in the natural environment of the Amazon.
In the afternoon, we set out for an immersive jungle excursion led by our expert naturalist guide. During the walk through forest trails, you will discover the incredible biodiversity of the Amazon, including monkeys, exotic bird species, and a variety of fascinating insects such as spiders and tarantulas. Along the way, your guide will also introduce you to the region’s medicinal plants and explain the ancestral knowledge preserved by local indigenous communities.
After an enriching day of exploration, we return to the lodge to relax and enjoy the peaceful sounds of the rainforest. Dinner is served at the lodge, followed by a restful night in the heart of the Manu Jungle.
Day 2 Highlights
We begin the third day of our Manu Jungle adventure with an early morning trek through the dense rainforest surrounding Soga de Oro Lodge. As we explore, your expert guide will introduce you to the incredible diversity of the Amazon, including towering giant trees, vibrant orchids, and a wide variety of medicinal plants traditionally used by indigenous communities. With some luck, we may also encounter larger wildlife such as tapirs moving through the forest trails. At this time of day, the jungle is especially alive with natural sounds, offering a deeply immersive experience.
In the afternoon, our journey continues as we cross the river and take a short 30-minute walk to Machuwasi Lake, a tranquil natural setting ideal for wildlife observation. Here, we may spot capybaras—the world’s largest rodents—along with caimans resting near the water’s edge. The lake is also a rich habitat for numerous bird species, making it a perfect location for birdwatching and photography.
As night falls, we experience the Amazon from a completely different perspective during an exciting nocturnal exploration. Guided by flashlights, we search for frogs, toads, insects, bats, and possibly snakes, discovering the hidden life that emerges after dark in the rainforest.
After this thrilling experience, we return to Soga de Oro Lodge to rest and relax. You will enjoy the comfort of your accommodation while surrounded by the soothing nighttime sounds of the Amazon.
Day 3 Highlights
In the early morning calm of the Amazon, we board a boat for a short 20-minute journey along a tranquil stream toward the vibrant Parrot Clay Lick. Here, we witness one of the most remarkable natural spectacles of the rainforest, as flocks of colorful parrots and macaws gather in the trees. Species such as green parrots, blue-headed parrots (Pionus menstruus), mealy parrots (Amazona farinosa), and chestnut-fronted macaws (Ara severa) fill the air with sound and movement, creating an unforgettable display of Amazonian wildlife.
After this extraordinary experience, we return to Soga de Oro Lodge to enjoy a well-deserved breakfast. Following a short rest and time to pack, we begin our return journey by boat downriver to the Atalaya port, marking the final stage of our river expedition.
At the port, our private transport will be waiting to take us back to Cusco, traveling through the lush cloud forest and dramatic Andean landscapes. Along the way, you will have time to reflect on the incredible biodiversity and unforgettable experiences shared over the past four days.
Upon arrival in Cusco in the afternoon, we will proceed directly to the airport to take your flight back to Lima, bringing your Manu National Park adventure to a close with lasting memories of the Amazon’s wildlife, landscapes, and cultural richness.
