The Choquequirao Trek 4 Days begins in Cusco and follows a challenging route through Capuliyoc, the Apurimac Canyon, Santa Rosa and Marampata before reaching Choquequirao. Known as the “cradle of gold,” this remote Inca city shares architectural similarities with Machu Picchu and remains partly covered by vegetation.

Surrounded by the Vilcabamba Mountains, Choquequirao offers impressive terraces, ceremonial areas and cloud forest scenery. After exploring the archaeological site, the trek returns through Santa Rosa and Cachora before continuing back to Cusco.

DAY 1Cusco – Capuliyoc – Santa Rosa–

For the Choquequirao Trek We pick you up from your hotel at about at 5.00 am and travel by bus, for about 4 hours to to the small village of Cachora where we will meet our horseman and mules. We will begin our trek along the edge of the Apurimac canyon and follow the trail, enjoying the dramatic landscapes and a variety of plant and animal life until we reach our campsite chiquiska or ‘La Playa Rosa Linda’ (1650m/5413ft).

This is a good option to experience the jungle. This is better than other options in Peru by virtue of the proximity to the township. The guides are energetic and knowledgeable. The meals are excellent, including locally-grown ingredients. The transport transfers are safe and well-organised. Three days is probably sufficient.

The tour we did with them was very informative and was insightful. We spotted several animals, birds and also got an insgiht into the culture and traditions. The night tour in specific was quite extraordinary. The guide made animal noises getting them off their hide outs and we could enjoy a clear sight of them, Highly recommended.
